Bridges
A Dental Bridge is also known as a dental restoration where a missing tooth is replaced with a false one permanently attached to an adjacent tooth or implant.
This is a common procedure to replace one or more teeth. All bridges are custom made according to each patient. They are cemented onto the existing surface by various techniques.
They are frecuently made by indirect method of restauration commonly called fixed prosthodontics.
It’ s fabricated by reducing the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth by a preparation pattern determined by several factors like the location of the teeth and by the material used by the dentist.
Three main types of dental bridge are used by this kind of operation: Traditional Fixed Bridges, Resin Bonded Bridges and Cantilever Bridges.
The first one is the most economical choice when the abutment teeth are healthy and don’t contain large fillings.
The materials used for construction include gold, porcelain fused to metal, or porcelain alone.
The Resin Bonded Bridges is also known as the FABB (Fleming Acrylic-Composite Bonded Bridge) It’s offered to very healthy patients who have a well-maintained teeth surrounding the area where the bridge is to be insert. It´s also considered one of the most successful techniques.
The Cantilever Bridges attached the adjacent teeth by using horizontal structures supported on only one end.
It’s an excellent option when the traditional bridges don’t work on the teeth surface. The procedures is very secure and the final result is aesthetically pleasing.
